Game Categories:Executive Functioning, Grade 3-5, Grade 6-8, Problem Solving, Puzzles, Visual-spatial skills Specific Skills Addressed:Cognitive Flexibility, Exploration of cause and effect, Generating alternative solutions, Spatial Relationships, Visual Closure Educator's Review: In Cat Shmat players have to finish building a ramp to guide the food to Cat using the pieces provided in each level. Players have to decide where each available piece should go, and whether it needs to be rotated. Once the pieces are in place, players push the play button to watch the food roll down and see if their ramp works. Failed levels can be replayed as many times as necessary. To succeed at this game players have to predict the consequence of placing different shaped pieces at specific spots, which means understanding the cause and effect of the food interacting with the shape of each ramp piece. Please Note: This is a slow-paced game that relies on a player's ability to think through the consequences of their actions and predict where the motion of the food will take it, and plan accordingly. However, players can try each level as many times as needed until they figure it out, using trial and error to get the hang of each configuration.
